The First Day of Autumn, We Celebrate Yom Kippur, and the Pope Visited

On Yom Kippur, Jews seek to make right their relationships with God. This is done, in part, by reciting a public confession of sins. The holiday has the most extensive prayer schedule of the Hebrew calendar. They abstain from food, drink, sexual intimacy. The Book of Jonah is read during the afternoon prayer service on Yom Kippur day.

Today was the first day of fall which marks change, and we also received a visit by the Pope. Jonah in the old testament tells of a Prophet, commanded by God to go to Nineveh.

Nahum 3:1-4 describes Nineveh Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery. Its victim never departs. The noise of a whip and the noise of rattling wheels, of galloping horses, of clattering chariots! Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear. There is a multitude of slain, a great number of bodies, countless corpses; they stumble over the corpses; because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot, the mistress of sorceries, who sells nations through her harlotries, and families through her sorceries.

This city was so cruel, it had monuments made up of their cruel and gory acts upon others. Two days ago,  when pro-lifers got together to dispel the lie that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms, a new hashtag surfaced prompted by news media outlets employed by Planned Parenthood's Crisis Management fir. What was this hashtag? #shoutyourabortion. This hashtag is used on social media sites to group together all posts with the same hashtag. It started a firestorm with people that even claim to be pro-choice buy had disdain for the encouragement of women to be proud of their abortion and to share how it liberated them. This hashtag kept tried to quietpro-lifer'sreports on their findings that planned parenthood does not provide mammograms.

The next day the viral fight was still ongoing while the Senate squashed a bill that would protect pain vulnerable babies after 20 weeks gestation from being aborted. It didn't outlaw abortion, but sought the bare minimum of humanity to be extended to a life that can experience pain. I don't know how many actual women that shared a story of how proud she was that her child experienced pain during an abortion, but out of the majority of women, I have confidence it wasn't many.

A religious leader came today and was given a platform. Government and other religious leaders attended this visit with much pomp and circumstance. Our President was one of the attendees. Some of the interesting things the Pope said were this.

" I appreciate the unfailing commitment of the Church in America to the cause of life and that of the family, which is the primary reason for my present visit. It is our duty to preserve and communicate them, even when the tenor of the times becomes resistant and even hostile to that message.”

Proverbs 8:31 How happy I was with the world he created; and how I rejoiced with the human family.

Our culture has pressured women to perform and shed her role as comforter and nurturer. We manipulated her into thinking man was oppressing her and keeping her from her dream of school and a career to prove her worth. Religious lies told her the ultimate shame was to become pregnant before marriage and she was left with an option of covert murder sanctioned by government leaders that told her it was legal.

The Pope has given a message decrying abortion; the Jewish holiday begs the believer to confess their sin and become right with God. It reminds us to embrace his mercy and forgiveness as the gentile city of Nineveh did. Autumn marks a season that sheds the dead to make room for life.

All of these things have taken place before a vote scheduled in the Senate tomorrow to defund Planned Parenthood for one year while it investigates the group for serious infractions against women and children. There is a shaking going on.

Psalm 82:5 But these oppressors know nothing they are so ignorant! They wander about in darkness while the whole world is shaken to the core.

Some of our leaders are blind to the supernatural things going on in their midst. They have been blinded by the God of Money. The last time a vote went up to defund planned parenthood, all but one of those against the bill have received (together a total) millions of dollars by planned parenthood.

Psalm 83:12 for they said, "let us seize for our own uses the pasturelands of God."

The depth of involvement of our country in the atrocity of abortion goes deeper than a woman's choice to eliminate a child. The God of money has entrapped pharmaceutical companies, researchers, and food companies, tobuy aborted baby body parts. Yom Kippur demands we repent. Let's shake off the dead leaves of forty years of abortion.

Amos 5:15 Hate evil and love what is good: turn your courts into true halls of justice. Perhaps even yet the Lord God of Heaven's Armies will have mercy on the remnant of his people.

Amos 5:24 I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living.

Righteous living can have nothing to do with the murder of innocent children and the destruction of the human family.

We can't make a lawmaker make a certain ruling, but we can be like the widow that Jesus admired so much, and keep coming to the altar of God and pray for justice. Where two or more are gathered in his name, he is in the midst of them, and anything they ask will be done. I want to be on the right side of justice when God sends Heaven's Army, and it is coming.

Do you want to be on the right side.?
